Efficient surface processes begin with the right system solution.

Sturm Surface Technology. A Sonplas Group Company.

Sturm Surface Technology GmbH develops and realizes customized machines, systems and production solutions for industrial surface technology. Our core areas are Thermal Surface Technology, Painting Technology and Automation & Vision Technology.

We are Sturm Surface Technology GmbH – an independent company within the Sonplas Group, based in Salching, Bavaria, Germany. Since 2026, we have been carrying forward acquired expertise, selected technologies and experienced teams from substantial parts of the former Sturm Maschinen- & Anlagenbau GmbH and Sturm Holding GmbH.

As part of the Sonplas Group, we combine more than 30 years of experience in surface technology with strong expertise in special-purpose machinery, automation, assembly, testing and process development. This enables us to create customized system solutions precisely tailored to each product, process, quality requirement and level of automation.

With our own engineering, in-house Tech Center and modern assembly facilities, we support our customers from the initial idea, feasibility studies and process development through prototyping and series-production systems to commissioning, production support, service and retrofit.

Your questions
Our answers

What is ADCS?

ADCS stands for Advanced Disc Coating System. The system family was developed for the thermal coating of low-emission brake discs and combines high-speed laser cladding, automation, inspection and process data integration in a scalable production solution.

What role does laser cladding play in brake disc coating?

Laser cladding, also frequently searched for as “lasercladding,” applies functional wear- and corrosion-resistant coatings to brake discs with high precision. Our systems range from equipment for prototypes and small-batch production to automated solutions for high-volume manufacturing.

Does Sturm Surface Technology offer solutions in the field of automation and drives?

Our official area of expertise is called Automation & Vision Technology. It focuses on automation technology, control and safety systems, software, machine vision and the integration of all components into a customized machine or system solution.

Can coating processes be tested before a production system is built?

Yes. In our in-house technical center, coating and painting processes can be developed, prototypes manufactured, components measured and process data evaluated. This helps reduce technical risks at an early stage and validate production processes in a targeted manner.

Did Sturm Surface Technology emerge from the former Sturm Maschinenbau?

Since 2026, Sturm Surface Technology GmbH has continued the acquired expertise, selected technologies and experienced teams from key parts of the former Sturm Maschinen- & Anlagenbau GmbH and Sturm Holding GmbH. Today, the company operates as an independent center of expertise within the Sonplas Group.

Does Sturm Surface Technology also provide service and retrofit solutions?

Yes. In addition to development and system engineering, our range of services includes commissioning, production support, service, retrofitting and system modernization. This allows existing systems to be technically enhanced and adapted to new production requirements.
